June 9th 2025 marks World Accreditation Day (#WAD2025), a global initiative established by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) to promote the value of accreditation.
This year’s theme, Accreditation: Empowering Small and Medium Enterprises focuses on how SMEs are essential to the global economy, driving innovation, creating jobs and supporting local communities.
Accreditation empowers Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to grow with confidence, compete globally, and operate sustainably. Through internationally recognized standards, accreditation enhances the credibility, quality, and trustworthiness of SME products and services. It opens doors to new markets, strengthens regulatory compliance, and fosters continuous improvement—enabling SMEs to meet customer expectations and participate in global supply chains. As engines of innovation and economic growth, accredited SMEs are better equipped to build resilient businesses and contribute meaningfully to sustainable development.
By promoting awareness and understanding of accreditation, World Accreditation Day contributes to building trust and confidence in products, services, and systems, ultimately supporting global trade, consumer protection, and sustainable development.
