What is Environmental Testing?
Environmental testing determines the stability or robustness of products or materials after exposure to various environmental conditions, such as temperature and humidity. This is usually achieved through numerous cycles of a similar environmental simulation, or programs which subject the products or materials to different environmental conditions sequentially. Tested products or materials are then verified for physical and mechanical properties to establish their stability and robustness.
Why Environmental Testing?
With the escalation of global climate change, it is crucial for all products (especially medical, and electrical and electronic products) to be able to operate in a wide variety of environments, both storage and operational. Therefore, it is important that during the design phase, analysis is performed to identify possible weaknesses and product improvements can be initiated to enhance a product’s ability to meet each of these environments.
