This course is an advanced course to Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OHSMS) where learners will acquire the knowledge and skills to plan and conduct third-partyrd OHSMS audits, including act as an audit team leader to manage audits effectively.

What do you need to know prior to enrolling

  • Knowledge of Plan, Do, Check, Act (PDCA) Cycle
  • Understanding of the core elements of a management system and the interrelationship pertaining to top management commitment, policies, objectives, planning, implementation, measurement, plus review and continuous improvement
  • Knowledge of the concepts of managing occupational health and safety standards through hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control, plus compliance with legal requirements and other requirements
  • Understanding of the relationship between occupational health and safety management and the provision of safe and healthy workplaces, prevention of work-related injury and ill health, and proactive improvement of health and safety performance
  • Common examples of relevant national and local OHSMS legislation and requirements
  • Knowledge on ISO 45001 requirements and commonly used terms and definitions

Learners that are not familiar with the purpose and intent of the ISO 45001 should complete an CQI and IRCA Certified OH&SMS Foundation Training course or an equivalent prior to starting this course.

Delivery Methodology

  • A 40-hour virtual classroom course delivered over five days or
  • A 40-hour traditional face-to-face classroom course delivered over five days

This course is structured with sizeable time spent on activity-based learning. There are many group exercises, workshops and case studies for discussions, presentations, plus interactions between learners and tutors.

The virtual classroom courses are delivered in real time via our online platform and provide learners with the flexibility of attending from a convenient place, without the requirement of traveling. However, the examination is required to be taken physically within one month of completing the course.
