GICG will join organizations around the world to celebrate World Accreditation Day (#WAD2022) on 9 June 2022.

It is a global initiative established by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) to promote the value of accreditation.

This year’s theme, Accreditation: Sustainability in Economic Growth and the Environment, focuses on how accreditation supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15.

These SDGs address global challenges such as climate change, pollution, over-exploitation of resources and habitat destruction – main causes of biodiversity loss. They provide a blueprint for achieving a sustainable future. Accreditation along with other quality infrastructure tools such as metrology, standardisation, conformity assessment and market surveillance can support the implementation of the SDGs. Use of standards can help organisations adopt more sustainable practices, with accredited conformity assessment providing assurance that organizations are meeting requirements and fulfilling social accountability.
